Pakistan Hindu Seva is committed to facilitating minority youth, and helping them become pillars of their communities. We have been holding a number of activities in Karachi and elsewhere in Sindh catering to the specific needs of young people. These activities range from cricket tournaments to career counselling and other workshops. Our activities address the specific needs of young people, from religious minorities, belonging to the middle and working classes.
Young non-Muslims in Pakistan face a number of hurdles even after they make it past the discriminatory education system in high school. Employment opportunities are hard to come by and there is very little career or guidance counseling, for all Pakistanis. Prejudice against religious minorities, particularly those from the so-called scheduled castes, makes the situation even worse for Hindu and Christian youth. This leads to whole communities being isolated and invisible, unaware of how to integrate into Pakistan’s mainstream. PHS envisions an equitable, diverse Pakistan where such isolation has ended and our minority youth do not feel distanced from Muslim peers. To help them gain confidence and stand as equals, PHS aims to:
- set up job fairs to enable networking
- organizing career counselling at the high school and college/university levels
- organizing workshops on colleges, career choices, leadership and community building
Along with all these activities focused on helping the younger members of Pakistan’s non-Muslim communities integrate comfortably into the national mainstream, PHS also organizes community building events such as sports tournaments. We recently held a successful cricket tournament to engage with urban youth.
PHS welcomes donations specifically for this purpose so that a fund can be made operational. We are registered as a Welfare Trust in Pakistan and our bank information for donation purposes is below.
